The Public Works Department exercises areawide recreation powers through gardening and beautification, facilities maintenance, and capital improvements throughout the Borough's parks. The Borough Recreation Map (PDF) depicts recreation resources throughout the Borough, including those maintained by the City of Ketchikan, USFS, and State of Alaska Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation.

Pursuant to the 2023 PARKS AND PLAYGROUNDS MASTER PLAN by Corvus Design, the Ketchikan Gateway Borough is currently seeking public feedback on a variety of parks and playground conceptual projects, intended to be constructed over the next 5-10 years.
